German-French free weddding ceremony

German and French weddings have some cultural differences, although there are also many similarities. With a German-French wedding speech you can build a bridge between the two cultures. Here are some distinguishing features between German and French weddings.

01

Procedure & Traditions

German weddings are often more formal and follow a set routine. There are often clear stages such as registry office, church wedding, reception and dinner.
French weddings are often a little less formal and more structured. There is the "vin d'honneur" (reception with drinks and small bites) and a multi-course dinner, followed by dancing and celebrations.

02

Wedding attire

In Germany, brides often wear white dresses, while grooms prefer classic suits.
In France, the choice of dress and style varies depending on the region. The bride can choose a white dress or even a coloured outfit, and the groom can wear formal or casual attire.

03

Food & drinks

German weddings often have a set menu that is served during dinner. Popular drinks are sparkling wine, wine and beer.
French weddings are known for their culinary excellence. There is often an extensive, multi-course menu with accompanying wines and champagne.

04

Duration of celebration

German weddings tend to be more temporary and can end in the late evening hours.
French weddings can last longer and often go into the early hours of the morning, especially if there is a lot of dancing and celebrating.

It is important to emphasise that these differences are based on general cultural trends and individual weddings can vary. Couples can choose elements from both cultures and design their wedding according to their own preferences and traditions. I will be happy to advise you on a Franco-German wedding speech.
